Change control is a process to track suggested changes to the project and to approve or reject them at the appropriate level(s) of authority. (Change control is not one of the 47 PMI processes.) Suggested changes are formalized as change requests. Effective change control also involves communicating and documenting the status of the change requests. The response to the change requests is often determined by a change control board.

Some change flows:

control quality process -> validated changes
control quality process -> change requests
