Comparing time responses.

Benchmarking is one of the tools and techniques for the PMI processes of plan quality management and collect requirements. It uses a comparison to previous data, data from similar situations or organizations, or industry standards to evaluate the quality of the current situation.

Benchmarking is described in sections 5.2.2.9 and 8.1.2.4 of the 5th edition of the PMBOK.
