According to the PMI method defined in the PMBOK, the second process group is planning. This follows the Initiating process group when the project is started. Now it is time to establish the scope, clarify the objectives and plan the activities to obtain those objectives including a schedule and budget.

The planning process group has more processes in it than any of the other four process groups. The planning processes (according to the PMBOK 5th edition) are
