Quality checklists are defined in the PMI process to plan quality management. They are recorded in the quality management plan and then used in (input to) ‎the control quality process.

Quality checklists are also used in various operations, such as pilots' pre-flight lists. The documentation of what needs to be checked makes it less likely that important factors will be forgotten. They may also be useful to other parts of the project work, such as designing test plans.
