A request for proposals (RFP) is a formal document specifying the parameters that prospective sellers must address in their proposals to win the business.

RFPs generally include a timeline, the requirements, and information about the criteria on which the winning bid will be selected. Sometimes the RFP also include the format for the response and pricing structure.
