A high-level project schedule

Common estimates are that approximately 80% of projects finish late[1], that is, over the scheduled amount of time. A schedule is used to plan the timeline and to track whether the project is progressing in alignment with those expectations. (Unless otherwise specified, "schedule" on this wiki refers to the project schedule.)
