Sponsor

The sponsor is usually the person who pays for or authorizes the funding for the project. It is one of the key roles and should be identified in the stakeholder register. In addition, the project management plan normally lists which decisions need to be made or approved by the sponsor. Subsidiary documents, such as the communication management plan, may define when and how the sponsor should be involved.
